DAUGHTER OF THE KING

My heart is so passionate about not settling in love. As a little girl I was blessed to have a dad who not only showed his love for me, but he proudly spoke of it to those around him. I love it when someone who knew my dad comes up to me and says, "You were your dad's entire world." My heart melts. It was then, as a little girl, that I first realized what it means to have someone love you unconditionally. My dad showed me that I am a princess and that I deserve to be loved greatly and abundantly, nothing less. I am thankful for the time God allowed my dad and I to have together and for our special father daughter bond. Although my dad is no longer here physically, he is my sweet angel and missed dearly, I will always treasure him and always be thankful to have the constant reminder of what I deserve in a man. And I know for a fact that if he was here today he would make sure that my future husband respects me, loves God, loves people and makes me feel special.

"There's something like a line of gold thread running through a man's words when he talks to his daughter, and gradually over the years, it gets to be long enough for you to pick up in your hands and weave into a cloth that feels like love itself."

My walk with the Lord has been full of very similar lessons. The longer I study God's Word the more I begin to understand His unconditional and everlasting love for me. I find myself praying for my future husband with the hope and desire that we will have a love that glorifies God. I have the hope that my future husband will love our children as my dad loved me. My heart is so grateful to have been taught at a young age to respect myself and to always come back to remembering that I am a daughter of the King. It is not always easy to take that route of a strong, independent woman of God who chooses to never settle for less than what she deserves. I am sure some of you can relate. And vice versa, God is preparing you to be an amazing wife for a future husband as he deserves. A couple years ago I decided to write the qualities that I desire in a husband in the back of my Bible so that I could reference it as needed.

"As a daughter of the King of Kings, your purpose is not to turn heads but to turn hearts toward our Heavenly Father."

  • Loves God will all of his heart, mind, soul, strength
  • Willing to grow in our faith together
  • Strong sense of humor
  • Passionate
  • Kind and loving
  • Great with children
  • Hardworking
  • Loves to travel and go on adventures
  • Romantic
  • Spontaneously dances
  • Honors my dad
  • Encourages me
  • Proudly shows his love for me
  • Respects me, my family, my friends
  • Honest and loyal
  • A kid at heart
  • Positive outlook

And of course I have a few physical features listed such as athletic, 5 o'clock shadow, dark ruffled hair, etc. But I realize those are completely negotiable! After all, nobody is perfect. :) ;)

This post is not to say that I am always content with patiently waiting for my dream guy and expect him to walk up to my doorstep, even though that would be completely okay with me. I write this because I need to be reminded like so many other ladies out there.

We are daughters of the King.
We deserve to be loved unconditionally.
We are beautiful.
We are made in His image.
We are so very precious and treasured.
We are loved.

"Your worth is not based on the world's hierarchy but on one simple truth: You are His. God's creation. His redeemed daughter."

God does not want us to settle for anything in life. He does not want us to strive for perfection or expect perfection from anyone else. He calls us to live an abundant life and wants to transform us from the inside out. I firmly believe that seeking God's own heart will help strengthen your own and ultimately help to glorify His Kingdom. In the time of prayerfully waiting for that special someone, I pray for patience. That until that time comes, God will continue to strengthen your heart, if in His plans, for that glorious day when He unites you with the one He has been preparing for your sweet heart. To find rest in His promises. And to put complete trust in Him. For His plans are far greater than anything we could ever imagine. In Jesus' name.

Luke 1:45 | And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.
