BE JOYFUL

Wednesday, Sept 7: Five things that bring you joy.

+ God's Word/Hope. The Bible brings me joy in all times of need. There are many reasons why I LOVE being a faith and lifestyle blogger; however, one of the biggest reasons is because it allows me to dig deeper into His Word and reflect on it. Write about it. Think about what it means to me and portray those feelings into writing. My hope is confidently found in Him. Without having hope in God's promises, what good would any of these joys or even sorrows of this life on earth be worth? I am filled with hope and that brings me joy.

+ Puppies. Who doesn't genuinely become a puddle of joy when seeing a puppy or better yet, snuggling a puppy. Honestly, need I say more?

+ Ice cream. Oh how I love some delicious creamy ice cream in a waffle cone. It makes me think of summer and being by the water. It brings fellowship + happiness, and just tastes so darn good! Mint chocolate chip is definitely a favorite flavor but I also wouldn't say I'm picky when it comes to ice cream.

+ Lake/Ocean. I am going to add "being outdoors in general" to this particular bullet point. It is so therapeutic to be outside and be a part of God's creation. To list a few of my favorite outdoor activities: canoeing, running down sand dunes, snowboarding (I tried skiing and it was TERRIBLE), zip lining in the treetops of Costa Rica and of course sunbathing on the sand by the lake or ocean. There are a few more outdoor/adventurous activities I want to check off my list as well.

+ Writing. Of course I find so much joy in writing; whether it be on my blog, handwritten letters, in my journal(s), etc. I find true joy in expressing myself via writing and stringing words together with compassion and true love for connecting with others.

I also have to include + coffee as a sixth joy because I legitimately become a happier person when I know a nice cup of coffee is just around the corner. I write this as I just brewed myself some Caribou blend with french vanilla creamer. YUM.

Today's post so divinely led me to these verses:

Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go with you, even as your soul is getting along well. It gave me great joy when some believers came and testified about your faithfulness to the truth, telling how you continue to walk in it. I have no greater joy than to hear my children are walking in the truth. [3 John 1:2-4]

What a beautiful thing it is to think of what brings God joy. How He rejoices when you boldly chase after your faith, when you put your trust in Him and His promises and when you are unashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. My prayer is that we consider these things that bring us joy yet reflect each of those back to God. How can you use those joys that radiate happiness around you for a greater good and purpose? Praise God for these joys He has created and I am delighted that there will be even more joyous times ahead...

But, as it is written, "What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him. [1 Corinthians 2:9]

    1. Haha right?! It's hard to narrow it down to just five. :) My favorite brew...I mostly drink single serve k cups, some favorites - caribou coffee, Kroger brand premium blend, dunkin donuts classic roast. (I always use French vanilla creamer at home.)

  4. I love that you put God's word on here! This would be on my list as well. It really does give me such a peace to sit down and read the Bible. What a blessing that we have the freedom to do that! I know I take it for granted more than I should.
