10 THINGS ABOUT ME

WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO BLOG?

Looking back to when I was a little girl, my favorite subjects in school were math, reading and writing. That stayed consistent all the way through college but I really started to delve into my passion for writing towards the end of my college career because I found that it was a huge stress reliever for me and it was a great experience to share my heart with those who chose to read what I had written. I am categorizing my passion for blogging into three separate answers.

1. One of my gen ed psychology professors raved about one of the essay submissions to the class, it turns out it was mine and I had received a perfect score. The paper was to be about something that had impacted your life and writing an inspirational essay linking it to our topic in class. I'm not sure if she ever knew, but her comments left me feeling like hey, maybe I am onto something here and could turn this passion of sharing my life via written communication into something even bigger.

2. My goal in life has always been to encourage people, to be a light during hard times and share my life experiences in hopes that it may help even just one person. My feeling is, God did not place difficulties and adversities in my life to suffer through them or be discouraged. I have chosen to turn my difficulties into a silver lining and use them for a positive influence.

3. Connecting with others via blogging is truly incredible. There are so many amazing writers out there, vulnerably sharing their hearts. This blog started in December 2014 with a two week mission to Chile with my university. I was able to connect with family and friends back home and update them on our latest adventures. It sort of spiraled from there to a blog that I have loved maintaining.

Long winded answer but writing and blogging will always be my favorite downtime activity.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SEASON AND WHY?

I live in Indiana where we have extreme forms of all seasons and I wouldn't trade that for anything. It is great to experience the beauty of each season in their truest form. If I had to to pick ONE, it's a tie between fall and spring. The colors, layers and crisp temps of fall steal my heart. Spring's relaxing rainfalls and greenery coming back to life post winter is also a favorite of mine as well.

WHAT ARE 10 INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT YOU?

My day job is in physical therapy in the long term care setting.
I absolutely love to clean. (but I hate putting laundry away.)
I have an infinite desire to travel and go on crazy adventures.
My dog, Theo, is a rescue pup from Kentucky/Cincinnati.
My childhood has cultivated a deeper appreciation for the little things in life.
I dream of being married and raising a family.
If I had to pick one genre of music to listen to forever, it would be 90's country.
I have served international missions on six different occasions.
I love exploring different coffee shops and having deep conversations.
I am usually spot on with first impressions of people.

WHAT WAS YOUR MOST CHERISHED CHILDHOOD POSSESSION?

My baby blanket (that I still have today) was my favorite item for as long as I can remember. I slept with it every single night. Now, it is packed away mostly to save what is left of it. :)

HOW DO YOU DEFINE FAMILY?

People who genuinely care for and love one another. You may go weeks or months without seeing them, but when you gather together, it's as if no time has passed and you pick up right where you left off. Some of my fondest memories are growing up with my cousins and all of the fun, random times we had.

WHAT ARE YOUR CURRENT FAVORITE SHOWS OR MOVIES?

Favorite shows: Fixer Upper, YouTube vloggers, Jimmy Fallon, Ellen DeGeneres (I don't watch much TV)
Favorite movies: The Holiday, Harry Potter series, The Vow, P.S. I Love You, childhood home videos

WHAT DESCRIBES YOUR STYLE?

Neutral, simple, cozy. My favorite thing to do is to be cuddled up in a scarf and boots with a warm cup of coffee. My personality style is pretty laid back, I am often referred to as a "go with the flow" type of person.

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO LEARN BEFORE YOU DIE?

I would love to learn how to speak Spanish and play the guitar. Funny thing is, I studied Spanish in high school and took a guitar class in college...I need to be more self disciplined with both of these.

HOW WILL YOU SPEND THE HOLIDAY BREAK?

I don't technically have a holiday break considering I am a working girl; however, the holiday season is my favorite. Something I would love to incorporate this holiday season is snowboarding. It is also my dream to visit New York City during the holidays as well. Not sure if that will happen this time around or not. We shall see!
