It's crazy to think here we are stepping into another new year. 2018. I was just telling my mom the other day how I have a good feeling about this year. Perhaps it's because I am heading into 2018 with a deeper trust in God and His faithfulness, knowing that whatever this new year brings, I will have a strength and endurance to face what comes my way and celebrate the goodness God brings.

(I also have a weird love for even numbers, hello even numbered year!)

Last year I made the goal to fearlessly pursue new adventures. I wanted 2017 to be a time of pursuing and acting on things that brought me outside of my comfort zone and into a place of growth and reliance on my faith. I can happily say I succeeded in doing so and wow, I am so so so grateful for my experiences!

Was it difficult? Yes. Did I have moments of thinking I can't do this? Definitely Yes. Was my faith challenged? Yepp.

BUT, you know what the cool thing is? Not only did I just make it through the tough changes, I came out of them stronger than before. And that right there is what faith can do and having an outlook of not giving up.

So, for 2018 I want to continue this pursuit in various ways. But I also want to live the abundant, meaningful, purposeful life God calls us to live.

Living an abundant life means living one that exceeds your expectations. Not in material possessions. Those are all temporary and insignificant, but completely natural to think of. Living an abundant life found in Jesus Christ is knowing that His plan for your life will outdo any plans or dreams you have in mind and trusting in His promise of eternal life.

I can't help but think of my dad who lived his life so abundantly. With a fullness that not many people possess. He was so good at living fully that he made it look easy.

You crown the year with your bounty, and your carts overflow with abundance. The grasslands of the wilderness overflow; the hills are clothed with gladness. Psalm 65:11-12

You know that "rut" that can be so easy to get stuck in when you are repeating the same day to day routine? Maybe it's just me, but I have to mix my days and weeks up with different opportunities in order to feel at peace. I want to try my best to steer clear of that rut and live in the fullness of living out my purpose God has called me to.

It's exciting to think about the ways God will use this one word to impact my life and hopefully be a light to those around me.

Cheers to a full, happy, healthy, strong new year.

What is your word for 2018?

...that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height

to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:17-21

  1. I briefly considered choosing 'Abundant', it's a word that's been on my mind a lot lately. Instead though my word chose me and I'm going with 'Magic', which seems odd and I'm not entirely sure how it will unfold over the next year but I'm excited to find out! I'm also excited for it to be 2018, 8 is one of my favourite numbers and feels much more stable than 7!

    1. I love that your word is one that you don't necessarily know what it will bring yet, makes it that much more exciting. :) Praying you have a blessed new year!
